The best time of year to get married in Perth
The best times to get married in Perth are spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) — mild temperatures, low rainfall and that soft, golden afternoon light Perth is known for. They photograph beautifully and they’re kind to your makeup, which is exactly why those Saturdays book out first.
Spring (Sep–Nov): the sweet spot
Spring is Perth’s most popular wedding season, and for good reason. Days are warm rather than hot, the wildflowers are out, and the light through late afternoon is gorgeous. For makeup it’s close to ideal — I can give you a fresh, slightly dewy finish without worrying about it melting, and lashes and liner stay put through a long day. The only catch is demand: spring Saturdays are the first to go, so if you’re set on one, treat the date as the thing to secure first with your bridal makeup artist.
Autumn (Mar–May): warm light, fewer crowds
Autumn is my quiet favourite. The heat of summer has eased, the light turns warm and flattering, and venues across the city and wine country are at their best. A March or April wedding in the Swan Valley gives you that golden, vineyard-at-sunset look with weather you can actually rely on. It’s a brilliant window for an outdoor ceremony, and it’s gentle enough on your skin that I can lean into a luminous, lit-from-within finish.
Summer (Dec–Feb): plan around the heat
Summer is beautiful but hot — Perth regularly pushes into the high 30s, and that’s the real challenge, not the rain. Heat and humidity are makeup’s toughest test. If you’re marrying in summer, here’s how I keep you looking fresh:
- Time it well — a late-afternoon or twilight ceremony avoids the worst of the heat for you, your party and your guests.
- Long-wear, transfer-resistant products — I build your look to hold through warmth and hugs.
- A matte-leaning finish with strategic glow, rather than all-over dewiness that can slide.
- A simple touch-up plan so you can blot and refresh between the ceremony and reception.
A coastal venue near Cottesloe also helps — the sea breeze takes the edge off a hot afternoon.
Winter (Jun–Aug): cosy, dramatic, great value
Don’t write off winter. Yes, it’s Perth’s wettest season, but an indoor or covered venue turns that into an advantage — soft light, cosy mood, and far more date availability. Makeup-wise, cooler weather lets me add real richness: a deeper lip, a touch more dewiness, a smokier eye that holds beautifully when there’s no heat working against it.
