Planning makeup for a South West destination wedding
Planning makeup for a South West destination wedding means booking a mobile artist early, doing your trial in Perth beforehand, and building a morning timeline that allows for travel-down and an often-early start. As a fully mobile, Perth-based artist I drive down — usually staying overnight nearby — and come to your accommodation, so the only thing you organise on the day is sitting down with a coffee.
Sort the trial before you leave Perth
The trial doesn’t have to happen down south. We do it in Perth in the weeks before your wedding, lock in your exact look, and I bring that result with me on the day — no trial time lost to a three-hour drive. It means you’ve already seen the makeup, checked it against your dress and venue light, and worn it for a few hours before it counts.
My bridal makeup starts from $150 for the bride and includes that trial, with your bridal party from $150 per person.
How travelling down works
The South West is roughly a three-hour drive from Perth, which changes the morning logistics. To protect an early ceremony start I usually stay overnight nearby rather than risk a pre-dawn drive — that way I arrive rested, set up calmly and we’re never racing the clock.
- Travel fee: quoted upfront with your enquiry, covering the distance (and overnight stay where needed).
- I come to you: there’s no studio down south, so I set up at your accommodation — holiday house, estate cottage or hotel room.
- One less car on the road: nobody in your party has to drive anywhere on the morning.
- Early starts covered: staying overnight means a 6am start is no problem.

Build the morning timeline around your party size
A destination wedding usually has the ceremony, photos and reception all on one property, so a calm morning sets the tone for the whole day. Once your ceremony time and party size are confirmed, I build a timeline backwards from when you need to be camera-ready.
| Bridal party | Rough makeup window |
|---|---|
| Bride only | 60–75 minutes |
| Bride + 2 | 2.5–3 hours |
| Bride + 4 | 3.5–4 hours |
| Bride + 6 | 4.5–5 hours |
These are makeup-only windows (I don’t do hair), so if you’ve also booked a hairstylist we’ll stagger the two so everyone flows through smoothly.
Make the makeup last the day
South West weddings tend to be long, warm and largely outdoors, so the makeup has to be tougher than a quick city event. I build looks to hold through heat, happy tears, golden-hour photos and a late reception, using long-wear products and finishing techniques chosen for your skin and the day’s conditions. The trial is where we get this exactly right.
If you’ve set a date and chosen your venue, send it through with your getting-ready location and I’ll confirm availability, quote the travel fee and put together a morning timeline. I take one wedding a day, so the earlier you book a destination date, the better.
